Paul Robson's SDL GamesLast updated 29th May 2004Here are some of the GPL Freebies available for you to download and play. Most of the downloads are 300-500k. All these are Linux builds, contain KDevelop project files, and don't need anything else to work. Some have been ported to Windoze, and apparently BeOS and Dreamcast as well. There's a nice library for SDL simple 2D use (sound, surfaces, bitmaps, joysticks, drawing functions and a font) in the Cruising on Broadway source. There are other versions of it in other files but that one is the most advanced. Note : Yar's Revenge has been updated, couple of very silly bugs :( Aklabeth A remake of Richard Garriott's Ultima prequel. aklabeth-1.0.tar.gz Cruising on Broadway A simple minimalistic painting game, it's another Sinclair Spectrum remake. Simple but more addictive than you think. cob-0.9.tar.gz Deathchase 3D Deathchase 3D is a remake of the Sinclair Spectrum game of the same name. It's a pseudo 3D game based on the light speeder sequence from "Return of the Jedi" where you have to shoot the bad guys' speeders. Finished. deathchase3d-0.9.tar.gz Football Manager A remake of the (in)famous Sinclair Spectrum Football Manager game, complete with stick-man graphics. This is reverse engineered, so it should play identically. Finished. fm-0.99.tar.gz Foosball A table football game for 1 or 2 players, different speeds and formations. A bit silly but quite good fun. Works fine, but might be tweaked as it's not been out long. foosball-0.92.tar.gz OpenGoal A soccer game which is unfinished and probably won't ever be finished, cos if I do it I'd start again. Could be useful if you are interested in SDL. opengoal-0.1.tar.gz OpenSpeedBall (OSB) A speedball game ; same as above (!) osb-0.5.tar.gz Trailblazer One of those games where you move down a scrolling field into the screen, and different coloured tiles have various effects. Quite fun to write, but a bit dull to play I think. The game emerged from a bit of code I wrote for fun :) trailblazer-0.9.tgz The Valley The game that's probably got more home computer ports than any other - a twenty year old graphical RPG. I spent ages playing it as a young chap, it's pretty basic but I just wanted to recreate it - this was done by working on the BBC Micro version. There's more about this game at http://www.classicgaming.com/studio2/valley/valley.htm valley-0.98.tar.gz Yar's Revenge A rather wierd shoot-em-up game that originated on the Atari 2600. It's more fun than it looks. Just released so might be tweaked. yar-0.99.tar.gz Paul Robson's other stuff Emulators mostly for MSDOS. Most of them won't work in XP. There's lots of source if you want them. I've also written other emulators Psion 2 Organiser, Nascom, Emerson, I like digging out these old things - I've probably emulated more unemulated machines than anyone except Marat. AOL address doesn't work anymore. http://users.aol.com/autismuk/emu.html Stuff about the RCA Studio 2 , a simple retro console which was a b***h to get the ROMS out of . In the end I conned the machine into thinking my STK200 board was a 1802 CPU. And if you think this is primitive, look up the Odyssey 1 Emulator what I wrote with David Michel at the Pong Story site. http://www.classicgaming.com/studio2 Email me : mailto:autismuk@autismuk.freeserve.co.uk |
